              Morphological characteristics of sandstone

              Aug 28, 2019

Sandstone is formed by accumulation of rocks in the source area through weathering, erosion and transportation. The rock is composed of debris and interstitials. Detrital common minerals: quartz, feldspar, muscovite, calcite, clay minerals, dolomite, olivine, chlorite, etc. Interstitial materials include two components, cement and debris. Common cements include siliceous and carbonate cements; heterogeneous components mainly refer to clay or silty particles with finer particles deposited at the same time as the debris.
